On the future of LiveJournal

[continued from lj_election_en]

I agree with schpydurx' comment. I appreciate the consistency and intellectual value of the LiveJournal format. However, the erosion of the legacy userbase and apathy-loss (...I know there's a term for it somewhere) cause me much concern ( Read more... )

The funny thing for me is that, in many cases, LiveJournal has become the place where I go to hang out with really smart people acting mostly dumb. Kind of like how a lot of people viewed 4chan back in the day. So I hang out on jameth's journal and talk about poop and dongs, and hang out on sf_drama all in capslock and fawn over cute puppies.

I absolutely need this in my day and absolutely love it.

100% agreed re: conversing in words but not 140 char or less.

(yes that last bit was on purpose--but I really do agree and have more than a few times cringed and unfriended people who turned on LiveTwitter and said "Anything I have to say can be said in under 140 characters!"--seriously I've seen that--and that's when I go, well, you obviously have nothing to say then.)

I wholeheartedly admit to this! jameth's antics and armadas etc are where I learned the art of gratuitous DESU, FFFFFUUU, asdsdsadfasdf, adjective!Name, and jamethisms like omgggggg, y/y?, pls advise, and many more. I use them all the time!

I also could not live without CAPSLOCK COMMUNITIES, dressing comms, stamping/rating, memes, poetic lj-cut titles, and all that other good fandom-related stuff. Reminds me of why I love this (eljay) soo much. Jameth is a fandom in itself, I think. So that's included. I wish I could do this stuff IRL, userpics and all.

which also reminds me to check my fpage for gaps that I've missed.... hmm, i got f-cut. aww :(. i need new crackBerry/sidekick to picspam eljay more. with pewpies. oh eljay you have changed my life
