This time I've got something very different to post. You're probably getting used to my Carth/Revan fixation, but I figured it was time to branch out a little more ( Read more... )

And you claimed you couldn't write smut.

Great fic. Love the uber manipulative Revan.

My thoughts are perhaps clouded by the conclusion.

My very first thought was that I'm surprised there aren't any apparent repercussions for terminating a Force bond so.

The ending does tilt the mood drastically, though, which was perhaps the intent. Too bad, because I kind of liked the mood before you, ahem, killed it. X)

I had always assumed that the possibly-terminal-force-bond thing was purely between the Exile and Kreia. It says several times in II that no one has heard of such a thing before, and I assumed it was because of the Exile's habit of forming such intense connections. The fact that masters often form force bonds with their apprentices, and apprentices usually outlive their masters, kind of backs that up.

And I did intend to twist the mood that suddenly, but if you don't think it's effective I'll keep that in mind.

Heh, I have some issues with TSL. The impression I got from the original was that force bonds were a true rarity. However, it seems to me that TSL mucks that up by throwing force bonds all over the place in an effort to be more "everything" than the original. It does make a neat explanation for how you influence your companions towards the light side or the dark, however. Regardless, if masters and students tend towards bonding, does that mean they typically fall to the dark side or return to the light in pairs? Or do only masterless/apprenticeless Jedi cross that boundary? It just doesn't add up for me in a satisfying manner. I tend to take TSL canon with a big grain of salt. Hell, even Jolee and his wife sat on opposite sides of the spectrum, presumably "force bonded" via TSL canon, and yet they had time to try and convince the other to switch sides ( ... )

Maybe Revan really planned to kill Bastilla all along? It is true that Sith apprentices generally devise a plan to kill their masters, and perhaps Revan thought that Bastilla was too great a threat to her, even now, though there was no indication that Bastilla was going to kill Revan, only the other apprentices. That could have just been the beginning of Bastilla's take over, though...

I've never seen Bastila as the smartest cookie in the jar =0P
The lack of hideousness was supposed to be through Bastila's own corrupted eyes, but I didn't make that very clear. Or at all, looking back. I think I might re-write this fic sometime soon, because I'm about as pleased with it as you are. I never really expected my first smutty fic to turn out well. I think I was distracted by making the smut work and slacked off in the rest of the prose. The clinicalness was partially intentional, but mostly because I didn't know what the heck else to call those things, which is never a good excuse.
Thanks for the feedback, by the way. There's a lot of people who wouldn't bother commenting when they don't like a fic.

I liked, and I will admit to a guilty thrill of pleasure at the ending - I wanted to run Bastilla through with a lightsabre from the moment I first rescued her in KotOR I. I killed her a number of times on the Star Forge before redeeming her.

Given how easily a bit of... electrostimulation... turned her to the dark side, this strikes me as exactly how stupid Bastilla would be.

Yeah, I wanted to end her as soon as I met her. She's such a dumb tart. Killing her is very satisfying.
