I could not help but laugh and realize how Mary Poppins-ish Miranda actually is. Well okay how similar the two of them are. This story is wonderful. I saw that you said there was no couples but you (might have) implied Andy/Miranda since the girls seem to be picking up on it. This story really is great. Looking forward to the concluding part.
I know, right?? It was tempting to have them just try to out-Miranda each other, but then I realised the story would go nowhere because Miranda would just throw Mary Poppins out on her sorry ass.
Wonderful. Imagining Julie Andrew and Merly Streep in a room together gives me great joy. Also, I'm very glad that somebody is finally taking charge of the twins, and I really, really hope that Andy shows up again. Cause I'm a sucker for happy endings.
Funny you should say that, because when I envisioned the Mary Poppins character I just had a faceless blob in my head (sort of combining elements from the movie and the musical version that's currently playing on Broadway in New York) -- so I'm glad you can imagine it as Julie Andrews.
And yes, I think we can arrange for a happy ending, haha. Thanks for your comments!
Hahahahahahahah. That's so awesome, because I totally got the idea after seeing the musical on Broadway last weekend. My friend, who had never seen Mary Poppins before in any shape or form (I know, can you believe it?) was all like, Mary Poppins is a terrible character, cos she's so full of herself and so convinced in her own rightness, and I'm like, that's the way she's written! Don't hate! And it got me thinking about it, and then I was like, ooh I'll write something (even though said friend will never read this.) Anyway. Thanks for your comments, I'm glad you enjoyed it =)
I adored the show, did yoooooou? I've been obsessed with Mary Poppins since I was a baby, so really I found the whole thing TGTBT (Too Good To Be True). And Mary isn't a terrible character and she's not full of herself! Didn't your friend listen to the song? She's practically perfect in every way!
It's really a fabulous fic. Mine is so much femslashier, from the very beginning. It opens with Miranda giving Mary the Once-Over that Andy is so familiar with, and noting to herself all of the designer brands Mary is wearing. Needless to say, I think When Miranda gets home, she finds her children and a strangely-dressed woman staring at each other in a battle of wills in the living room is better. :P
I enjoyed it IMMENSELY. Disney (as much as I hate to like them) always delivers when it comes to their sets and costumes and everything. It made me a little less scared of the prospect of seeing the Little Mermaid. (though I have to confess it wasn't my first choice of show to see -- it wasn't even my second; no one would see Christine Ebersole in at Encores! Applause with me and there were no more Young Frankenstein tix at the TKTS booth) But I'm really glad we saw it, because it was so awesome, and I saw Mary Poppins like 200 times as a kid because it was one of the two movies I owned as a kid. And I was sad that some of the songs got cut out and was bummed they couldn't think of a way to include the dancing penguins (PENGUINS! I LOVE PENGUINS!) but I liked the new ones for the most part, and Step In Time was SO AWESOME, especially the bit where Bert did his thing. Gosh that was a long bit of gushing. But to answer your question, yeah, I guess I did adore it
( ... )
"Girls, that's enough." Miranda massages her temples, thinking of all the parenting books she's read in her lifetime and how completely unhelpful they've been. I love the whole fic but this particular sentence makes me laugh! Congrats I can't wait for more.
Hee, thanks! There was something I read once, can't remember where, but it stated something to the effect of, Miranda's a master everywhere but her own home, and it's so true. Glad you enjoyed it!

"Good children do NOT RAISE THEIR VOICES," Mary Poppins bellows down the hall.
*snort*
Wonderfully in-character. Looking forward to part 2. :)

Um. *cough*
This is damn good anyway. I desperately want a nanny like Mary.
