So, you may or may not have read my LJ entry about XFiles fanfic and how I keep looking for casefiles, not smut?

Well congratulations to you, because there is no case in this fanfic whatsoever but I did not miss it. :) (I also wouldn't call this smut, just to clarify!)

I think you're right on with the characters of Emily and Garcia. And Rossi -- mostly. I'm not sure how I feel about him speaking Elvish. On the one hand, it's cool. On the other, I'm not sure I completely buy it. I think the scifi geekdom fits for sure, though.

Also -- hasn't it been implied that Rossi has dated people he works with before? When he first started on the show he made a comment about JJ and Hotch reacted like he was appraising her attractiveness. It was referred to again when Garcia started dating that other FBI tech (played by the guy who was on Buffy?). It's something I've always found interesting, because on the show he seems devoted to the work. But there are hints that he is -- or at least used to be -- a playah. ;)

I wasn't sure about giving Rossi that much of a geeky background. But he would have grown up with Tolkien, so I figured why not.

Rossi's personal life is nuts, especially the way the writers portray it. He definitely has been a player in the past but I kind of figured that if he was serious about Emily, he wouldn't want to screw up their work relationship since she is such an awesome profiler.

I'm really flattered you took the time to read my fic. Thanks! There's more under the Criminal Minds tag on my journal if that floats your boat ... if CSI does it, there's a tag for that, too. I don't really do case fic, unfortunately, since my ideas all turn out to be re-treads of someone else's, so I do a lot of "between the scenes" writing.

I agree that he wouldn't want to screw up their working relationship and I think you totally captured that. I just thought that him saying "but we work together" was kind of a weak excuse, given his past. But that works in a very real way -- he doesn't want to screw up their working relationship so he's grasping for any reason not to start a personal one.

I think my desire for casefiles has more to do with the fact that the XFiles is no longer on the air so the only way for me to get new casefiles is through fanfic. I don't mind the behind the scenes stuff, really, but I got really sick of cheesy behind the scenes writing, which is all I was finding.

Oh, and despite my comment about the elvish, I really do like Rossi with a geeky background. I think it totally works.

*grin* I'm so glad you like it! I'm happy with the way it all turned out.

This prompt really forced me to get away from my usual "between the scenes" style and to focus on what the characters would do in a situation wholly away from work and I think it's done me a world of good as a writer to work on this. I feel so much more comfortable with Emily and Dave as characters now!

Thanks for the prompt and for really pushing me out of my comfort zone! I'm glad you enjoyed the end result.

The story was fantastic. I felt the characters were spot on. And the emotion was not overplayed. I really can see the Rossi and Prentiss banter. Our Mr. Rossi is a man of many hidden talents and everything you present here 'felt' right.

Fanfic is my form of escapism. Thank you for giving me a Prossi fantasy that I totally enjoyed.

And I will definitely checkout your other stories!

Thank you so much for reading! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I had a lot of fun playing with these guys. I'd never written them in a non-episodic context before, so taking them away from the BAU and giving them a reason to interact outside of a case was hard ... but fun!

Thanks for the feedback! I adore hearing from readers. I appreciate your taking the time to tell me what you think.
