I know! I started taking pictures with my usual apprehension, and I liked the first one! I was so happy :)
A tripod and remote are really the best way to go. You don't bore anyone, and you worry less because it's just you. It certainly helps that I chose a Sunday afternoon so the place was deserted. Whew!
OMG you look SO GORGEOUS!!!! What fabulous photos, and I love all the information that you've shared about it. I've never even seen the show but you've got me dying to make a dress like this now. lol!
Thank you! I'm so happy with how the pictures came out--I just wasn't thrilled with the ones at Costume College, but I knew I had plans to take more later on. I'm with you--it's so much easier taking your own :)
The costuming on the show is seriously gorgeous, and not just because of the pieces themselves, but it's amazing what they've done to make a totally believable world of fashion. Many of the costumes are barely even noticeable when you watch, they just fit in.
I think more people need to make their own dresses, not just the reproductions from the show. Not that there aren't awesome reprodutions (you should see Loren's sleeve embroidery in the sun. Wow.), but it was just too fun to do this. I know you'd make an amazing one :)

And the beetle wings are so much better in person. I just want to show them to everybody :)

And I love the hair. Usually I dread the hair with costuming, but this one was really fun :)

I'm assuming you've seen the embroider's website--http://www.michelecarragherembroidery.com/ , but if you haven't, you should.
