so somehow through combined efforts of me and my brother, we managed to get our computer hard drive infected with spywear. which means that i have to get a completely new hard drive.so everything is gone. which means all 900 of my songs are GONE and allll my pictures. all the ones from leadership. all the ones from 9th grade. EVERYTHING.

Saw your post while skimming the chk_is_life friends list. I normally don't comment on such posts, but I work in computer security for a living; I've been doing it for 20 years now.

You shouldn't need to lose your pictures and songs. First, if you contact a computer repair shop, they should be able to remove, or at least inactivate, much of the spyware. You should, at minimum, be able to disconnect your computer from the network, and then boot it into safe mode. If you have a CD burning program, see if you can burn your songs and stuff to a CD data disk (or perhaps a DVD data disk, which has more storage).

But don't panic. Take things slow, bring in a professional, and you should be able to recover much.
