This is really random, and I'm not sure why your post brought it up, but do you remember when each day Palmer would go through the alphabet of different lofty words ... and the lesson that I actually remembered from all of those was for something like persistance or perserverence...where he gave the example of the job of moving the music stand back and forth and back and forth, and there were two ways to do it, one way was to do so clumily and get a bad back and sore arms and never a promotion, and the other way was to do it precicely and carefully and quickly and well, and not end up with repition injuries and be noticed by supervisor...etc. Well...I think about this as I work at Target, and though my supervisors and co-workers really like me and admire my work, there has yet to be any form of promtion, let alone the type of jump into corporate side that I would like; or even cross training in a variety of areas. a well...I guess I'll just keep moving my music stand back and forth and back and forth.
yeah i DO remember that jo! thanks for the reminder :) sometimes i think palmer knew what he was talking about more than people gave him credit for. i think as far as promotions go---it helps to convey your interest to the higher ups. they can't read your mind! i discovered this for myself when i said i may be interested in a different position at apple. having worked for three+ different corporations now, i have discovered that this is how it works. so speak up ! and good luck :) how are things otherwise?
