RULES & FAQ

Rules

1) No Godmodding. You are only playing your character. Do not make decisions for other characters. This includes deciding on actions, thoughts or anything they might have done in the past with prior consent from the player. This also includes actions that affect other characters. If your character throws a punch, you cannot decide that the punch hits without the other players consent. You cannot decide that the other character has no opportunity to dodge the attack. When in doubt, always ask permission. If your character has any kind of powers/extraordinary abilities, you should have a permissions post and it should be easily available and there should be a link on the taken character page along with your other information.

2) No meta-gaming. Your character doesn't know anything that your character hasn't found out in the game. If your character is an eavesdropper/has psychic powers/etc, you still need to ask permission to have your character overhear a conversation. Communication is important with an ability like this.

3) IC and OOC are separate things.

4) IC actions have IC consequences. Don't have your character do something if you don't want to handle the fallout of those actions.

5) Respect other players. While separate, the way you treat other players does matter. If there is a problem with someone treating others poorly, we will ask them to leave.

6) Characters and players should all be 18 or older. Aging up of underaged characters will be done only with mod approval before the application is submitted. This game will contain violence, character death and psychologically trying situations. Though it is not a horror game, there will be horror elements incorporated into some of the plots. If these are not elements you want to play with, this might not be the game for you.

7) Activity Check. Every month, you will be required to link two threads for each character you play. They must be with two different players and they must contain at least 6 comments from your character. If you fail AC, you will have to wait a month before reapplying.

FAQs

How many characters can each player have?
Players can have up to 3 characters. If they are all active (IE not just barely making AC), they can request an additional character up to 5 total characters.

How does time pass in the game?
Three days in the real world are equal to one day in the game world. Time operates at the 3:1 ratio.

What can my character bring with them?
Small personal items only. They cannot bring more than what would fit on their person. No electronics, not even broken ones, will be with them. The highest tech they'll be left with is a flashlight or other very simple battery powered item. If there is something your character absolutely needs to be playable, we can work something out, such as a modified wrist communicator, but it is up to mod discretion and must be brought up in the application.

Where are the electronics?
Other than their wrist communicator, nothing even remotely high-tech is at your character's disposal. There is nothing with a digital display in the entire town. It has all been removed. Your kitchen appliances are about as high-tech as it gets and they aren't great.

Where does the food come from?
It is restocked when no one is in the room. If a character keeps watch, new food just won't show up in their kitchen.

Can my character break a camera?
They can try, but as soon as they leave and come back or fall asleep, it will be replaced. If they keep watch for more than 24 hours over it, everyone in the room will fall asleep and when they wake up, they will feel groggy and the camera will be fixed. If they try to dismantle a camera for parts, they will both recieve a painful shock and pass out before they finish.

How does a Hiatus work?
On your hiatus, your character literally disappears. If you will be unable to tag for more than a week, please go on hiatus so that characters may react to your character not being around. Your character(s) will return intact when you do.

Can my character die?
No, but they can come pretty damn close and seemingly die to the other characters. This is something that requires mod approval. If you are interested in this, talk to your friendly neighborhood mods.

Do you allow OCs or AUs?
We have a certain number of slots available for canon OCs (this includes characters created using tabletop games). At this time we do not allow OCs from player-created environments. We do not allow player-created AUs of canon characters (IE Rule 63, making a character a vampire, etc.) but minor tweaks are allowed. Please highlight them in your application so that we can discuss them if there are any questions or concerns. We also ask that you choose PBs that are not already-taken or popularly played characters. If you are unsure about your PB, check with the mods. Sometimes the same actor might be okay as long as they look different from the character in question.

Can I import CR from another game?
At this time, we are not allowing CR importing from other games.

How do the wrist communicators work?
You can send video and audio only. There is no text feature, as the screens are very small and it only has a few buttons. If they break, they will be replaced the next time your character wakes up. If someone watches over them, they will pass out after a few hours.

Someone dropped a character. Can I apply?
We ask that you wait at least 3 weeks before reserving/applying for a character that has been recently dropped by another player so that the other characters have time to process the character being gone and returning.

Do characters keep powers?
Yes, but we have mechanics in place to curb anything game-breaking. Your character cannot teleport/fly/speed-run/whatever past the edge of the area. In fact, as they get closer, their powers will stop working. They cannot use any psychic powers to see or reach out beyond the edge, either.

What if my character tries to leave?
By sea, they will be pulled under the water by an unseen force and wash up on shore later. Through the forest or following the only road out of town, there will be a variety of obstacles in their path.

Can I fourth-wall another character?
No. If your character watches a show/reads a book/whatever that another character is from, you can make reference to an analagous thing that contains a similar, but not the exact same world and cast of characters. (IE if your character is a Superman fan and we have any characters from DC comics, your character can be a fan of a superhero named Awesomeguy who grew up on a farm and is from another planet, but it cannot be the actual Superman/Clark Kent. Your character cannot recognize characters from other fandoms by name or appearance.) The only time fourth-walling is allowed is when it has been done in the source canon (IE the Supernatural books in Supernatural). Pop culture references that are vague or about things not in the game are absolutely fine.
