It is worth noting, before we leave the whole topic, that the ethical aspect of the dragon confrontation is handled, explicitly and implicitly, with a sensitivity seldom found in the traditional legends. Neither the dragon's attack on the Geats nor Beowulf's counter-attack is amoral. The dragon, whose cup has been stolen by a thief, has a case, and ( Read more... )

Oh, I didn't know you were a Targ. :D Well, you guys might have snuck in a few dragons' eggs into the lion's den anyway, according to fan theory, so an especially warm welcome to the journal, lol.

English philology, but my minor is Comparative Literature, and I'm picking my classes so that I'm basically studying English Lit. :)

Haha, no. XD I just had never been aware of its existence before. It's so fancy!

Heh, do I sound like another house member then? I was a Targ-Martell tie, with only one vote difference:) And thanks for the welcome)

Ah, you study what I've always wanted to. Literature and languages were always my thing, but I let myself be persuaded to major in international relations (mostly because it allowed to study one of the rare languages). Color me enthusiastic on your behalf!

Yeah, I somehow thought Martell. :D I guess they intermarried, so it's not way off.

Lol, well, at least you'll have a chance at getting a job! What language did you get to study?

Yeah, that was interesting. I knew Beowulf was going to fight a dragon, but I was surprised that it was actually given a reason, too, and would probably have chilled on its gold for the next millenium if no one had stolen its cup.
