When done right, yeah it's awesome. I mean neon as a central theme in something. I'm talking 1980s/early 1990s neon. The kind of bright, primary-color neon that dominated children's fashion in particular. D:

anything that isn't those above. 90s grunge is... eh. Personally I like the style that maurices usually has. Whatever that would be classified as.
