Zaku was on his way home after school. He had been held to stay after class because of a mess he had caused in the chemistry lab while working on an assignment. It took a while to clean up, especially since no one was willing to help, even a little bit, and there were so many rules for cleaning up chemicals that it took a but to figure out. Even so, the day was already going terrible after he received an F on a test in an earlier class, though he studied for it for many long hours.

Grumbling to himself, Zaku crumpled up the failure of a test and through it on the ground, both pissed off and disappointed in himself, then wondered why his parents had to get a house so far away from the school and make him walk every day.

What a crappy day.

Zaku heard the sound of a train and a dog barking, and possibly coming in his direction.

It was inevitable that Kiba run out of energy. While Akamaru still had quite a bit of juice in him, Kiba slowed to a jog and watched his companion trot ahead. There was a fond glint in his eyes, but considering his routine, this was nothing new. His eyes wandered as he thought about almost nothing.

It took him a couple of seconds to realize that his dog had sped up. At first he only assumed that his pacing was just sketchy, but when he looked forward again, Akamaru was already many more meters farther than he'd anticipated. He was chasing after another person.

"Akamaru, heel!" he called out, but not too strictly. It turned out that the figure was just Zaku, so it wasn't that big of a deal. Despite Akamaru's size, he was a gentle dog.

Then again, it was Zaku. It didn't occur to him until Akamaru jumped excitedly for him that this probably wouldn't end well. His throat went dry, but he smiled apologetically, ready to take the heat.

Zaku stared at the sidewalk as he stalked on, then noticed the sound of running footsteps coming at him, so he looked up, only to see a large white dog leaping at him. What the fucking hell...? He swiftly picked up a good size rock that decorated the edge of the lawn he was standing next to and threw it at the dog with all the power of his anger that had built up during the day. He didn't think anything about if the dog was a stray or belonged to somebody; he was just really pissed off and the last thing he wanted was a dog to be charging at him.

The clumsily aimed rock hit the dog on the head. "Heh, I guess I got lucky, stupid son of a bitch..."

Kiba's smile dropped the moment his dog went down. His right eye involuntarily twitched as he tried to comprehend the situation. By now he was but a couple of meters distant from Zaku, actually about to wave a say hi, but for some reason, somehow, Akamaru had ended up on his side with a lawn rock not far from his head.

"W-what the hell was that for?" Kiba scolded. His voice was still thin and unusually high, as if in disbelief. He knelt down next to his unconscious companion. "Oh my God, the fuck's wrong with you? You chucked a rock at his head!"
