The sun had been out for a little while at least, Arashi had stood by the windows in the kitchen and enjoyed it along with the peace and general quiet that it seemed to bring. Something that was at times in short supply around Fandom.

Ino fidgeted on the front step, still not sure if she should bother knocking or just... go back to her room. Not, mind, that her room as an improvement. But what if she just wound up bothering him? She didn't want to be work for anyone.

Taking a deep breath, she knocked quickly before she changed her mind. She wanted her Dad right now. This was... the closest she was going to get.

"A girlfriend shouldn't be counted as work." Ino said darkly. "And I've told him he needs to socialize more. If you let him he'd disappear for weeks researching. That's unhealthy."

"You wouldn't like him." She said immediately, with much internal flailing, "He's uh, so not your type." Watch her avoid the question!

"Weeks researching?" Arashi asked raising an eyebrow. "Ans for weither he's my type or not shouldn't matter. I'm not the one dating him Ino."

Well, she knew that, but she'd had to say something right? Right?

"Weeks." Ino said, babbling a little, "Without warning even. It's a pain. And you'd hate him. Majorly." More babbling. "It's better for all involved if we're not all involved, right? Yes. He'd get, if you had a scale of one to ten, well he'd get like... negative a million."

Ino really failed at the 'grace under pressure' thing.

Arashi's smile disappeared compltely. "You're dating Kabuto?" He asked flatly as he was the only one on the island that rated a negative million.

"What possessed you to date that monster?"

Ino hunched her shoulders defensively, "I told you not to ask!" She flailed. "And I wouldn't call him a monster, just... just a whole lot of a jerk and yes, I know he's really creepy and works for Orochimaru but that's not here..." Funny how she didn't think Yondaime would be impressed with that reasoning.

She reached for some reason that might... help... "It started purely as a business transaction?" Ino offered weakly.

"Ino!" He frowned. "He's still evil! If not pure evil it's still enough not to give a damn about you except how he can use you in his next experiment!"

"I know what I'm doing!" She protested, even though... not really. "And he was upset when I was sick!"

"Why? Because you were sick and he'd loose his chance to test on you? Ino he's not a good person! How can you think that he actually cares for you?"

"He made himself sick trying to heal me!" Ino snapped. It was... a half truth. He'd made himself sicker trying to heal her. "And how do you know he's a bad person? Do actually bother to talk to him? And he does care, at least a little!"

Arashi sighed and shook his head. "Do you really care for him Ino? I just don't want you to get hurt. With you parents not here I feel partially resposible for you."

The crossed arms and sudden looking away and blushing furiously probably told him a truer story than her muttered, "I care a bit."

Arashi shook his head again and ran a hand through his hair. "Ino...You realize your father is going to explode if he hears this and that Kabuto is probably using you right?"

He just wanted to make that point really clear.

"Dad's not going to hear about it from me," she said moodily, "... Yondaime-sama."

The other point she was leaving alone. Just... it was better not to think about that.

"You should tell him you know," Arashi pointed out. "It's not my place to tell him who you're dating. He'd only be worried about you like I am Ino. It's a father thing."

"He can't worry about what he doesn't know about." Ino said, "And I've got no desire to be dragged out of Fandom." Which is what her Dad would probably try to do.

"And there's nothing to be worried about."
