Synopsis: Kai is in high school. He lives in an all-male dormitory with bizarre and quirky, but extremely attractive residents. Adventures, drama, and temptation fill the interiors of Mizer House. Premise is roughly based on Koko wa Greenwood.
Comments: Of course it would occur to me to make this after I write the first four chapters. Anyway, I figured I should have a list of characters, since there will be a lot of them in this fic. Some characters have little side stories here, so this in itself is like a fic chapter, and it's longer than most normal character lists. Told in Kai's POV, as per usual.

Mizer House Residents

They call me Kai. I started high school at Malice and moved in Mizer House a month late due to injuries from a traffic accident I got into shortly before school started. All my life I seem to have surrounded myself with jerks who like to tease me, my new roommate among said jerks. That may or may not have anything to do with how he shoves his rainbow powers down my throat. Homosexuality in general still makes me a just a little uncomfortable, but I'm getting used to seeing it around here. Slowly. I have made some good friends, though, like Nao from the third floor, so the change in scenery isn't all that bad.

Byou, the resident artiste, is my annoying roommate. With hopes of getting into art school, he is working on his illustration portfolio, which largely comprises portraits of nude men. He cares very little for my comfort (or my sanity, for that matter), and he does not hesitate to bring his models and let them strip in our room. Although he hardly socializes, he's one of the most perceptive people I know. Knowing he understands me well makes his douchebaggery even worse.

Aoi is the cool, princely student council president of Malice High School. Not surprisingly, he's one of the most well-known students on campus. He's currently the top candidate for class valedictorian, and he's known to be great at sports, too. All of Malice's athletic groups want Aoi to play for them, but he chooses not to join any clubs and stays in the student council. I see him as a role model, a sentiment I'm sure a lot of other freshmen share.

Uruha is the warm and friendly head resident of Mizer House. Like his roommate Aoi, he's pretty popular in both Mizer House and Malice High. He's the complete package -- good grades, excellent athlete, and great looks. He handles all concerns regarding Mizer House; he makes sure bills are paid on time, sees to it that the laundry doesn't pile up, and even helps with minor repairs. He is also the only resident in Mizer who can understand and translate the weird dance our landlord uses as sign language.

Nao is my best friend, and for as long as he can't hear it, I can spend all day waxing poetic about him. In addition to being overall fun to hang out with, he's pretty smart, too -- probably the smartest man I know. His grades are unrivaled, as he gets perfect scores in every single test, in every single subject. The mutant has photographic memory, so he remembers everything he reads, sees, and hears. He's helped me catch up with the work I missed during my month-long absence. Guy's still a dork, though. For all the nerd cred he brags about having, his favorite books are actually a series of romance novels.

Takuya is Nao's quiet roommate. Just like Nao, this guy's often seen with his nose stuck in a book, although he rarely ever reads textbooks. He is also frequently seen feeding stray cats. His looks and his personality are ridiculously misleading, though; the guy is actually the strongest man in the dorm. From what I heard, he was the object of a lot of teasing at first. Takuya ignored the jeering and reacted only when one guy flung a baseball at him. He caught the ball barehanded without batting an eyelash and quietly handed it back to the guy. The bullying ended instantly.

Reita is the feared captain of the soccer team. He is known to be scary when angry, which unfortunately, appears to be the case most of the time, so no one dares to get on his bad side. If even Byou wouldn't dare approach Reita to ask him to pose for a portrait, that says something. Everyone in Malice respects him, though, for both his individual athleticism and his leadership skills. Malice's soccer team is the reigning champion in the prefecture, and Reita gets plenty of credit for that.

Takeru shares a room with Reita. He may or may not be the only one who isn't scared of angering his roommate. But then, he is probably also the only one fast enough to run away from Reita. He's the captain of the basketball team and one of the top-ranked point guards in the prefecture. The guy is friends with pretty much everyone in school, and he almost always wears a grin on his face. No one messes with him, though. He rarely ever shows it, but rumor has it his temper's even worse than Reita's.

Ruki lives on the third floor. From the way he rarely shows up for dinner at the house, he doesn't seem overly fond of crowds, but he's not difficult to call upon when asked to join in a party. The guy seems to be really friendly, appearing chummy with even Reita, but he doesn't look particularly close with anyone. I'm not sure if the whole mysterious vibe is done on purpose.

Saga is Ruki's roommate and the editor-in-chief of Le Ciel, Malice's school paper. The guy looks like a slacker when he's loafing around the house, but he apparently works really well under pressure (much to the distress of his staff). He also holds the record for having the most female guests at Mizer without getting caught, so the rest of us quietly respect him for this achievement.

Tora is the only student resident who doesn't share a room with anyone in Mizer. He pays twice the rent we all do to share a room with his motorcycle. He loves his motorcycle too much to leave it in his hometown, and because Mizer does not provide any form of parking space, he brings his bike in his room. Byou told me that originally, Aoi and Uruha lived downstairs, and Tora stayed in the room next door, the one Aoi and Uruha are using at the moment. The room trade happened after Tora fell down the stairs while lifting his bike and landed right on Aoi. Both Tora and Aoi suffered minor injuries, but miraculously enough, the bike suffered not a single scratch. The floorboards, however, weren't as fortunate. To avoid repeating mishaps like that, Uruha had Tora move downstairs, and Tora had to pay for the damages and help repair the floors and the ruined steps. Uruha did not penalize Tora for injuring Aoi, much to Aoi's disgruntlement.

Miku... is strange. He's a member of the theater club and often in charge of the production and stage design of the club's projects, and he's also one of Mizer House's two resident cross-dressers (the other one being his roommate). That's not what makes him weird, though. He often wears girly clothing and accessories, and they do look good on him, but he's actually straight as a board, with a girlfriend to prove it.

Bou is the other resident cross-dresser. Like his roommate, he's also a member of the theater club. He is almost always in charge of costume design, so we often see him working with the sewing machine in the room he shares with Miku. Bou looks prettier than a lot of Malice's female students, and in all honesty, even I got fooled once, and I'm utterly thankful I found out it was him before asking him out. I think he's the only male student allowed to come to school in girls uniform (Nao and I suspect the teachers enjoy seeing it on him).

Kanon is one of the two proprietors of Mizer's in-house game center. He and his roommate Yuuki converted half of their room into a game arcade with their game consoles and multiple PC's. As a result, their room is almost always crowded after school hours and every weekend. He can get pretty loud when we're playing games, particularly first person shooters. But that's only when it's us guys. The moment a girl walks in, he shuts up and hides. It's pretty hilarious to watch.

Yuuki is the other proprietor of the game center that used to be half of the dorm room he shares with Kanon. Kanon tells us that during their freshman year, Yuuki was a well-liked student, and many girls admired him. One girl in particular liked him too much, and went on stalking him, to the point that she was bothering all of Mizer's residents. Exasperated, Byou told Yuuki to "do something, like wear an afro wig and a pair of oversized sunglasses." Yuuki took the suggestion seriously and did exactly as Byou said. It surprisingly worked, as the girl never went near Yuuki again, and the love letters, half-naked photos, and panties stopped flooding his shoe box. Yuuki had always worn this disguise ever since.

Kazuki is a professional model, although this fact is largely unknown on campus. So only the guys in Mizer know that he's the model who shocked fans everywhere when he turned down an offer from a leading modeling agency in London. As for the reason he stayed, even we don't know that. It's kind of an unspoken rule not to pry about it, though, so I never asked. Selfish as it sounds, I'm glad he didn't go. He protects me from Byou from time to time, even going as far as letting me use his bed whenever he'd be out for a late photoshoot.

Shou, Kazuki's cousin and roommate, is a star player in Malice's basketball team and an up and coming model. Unlike with Kazuki, however, it is relatively known that Shou does modeling on the side and has done a few minor acting roles. But while Kazuki doesn't appear to dislike the profession, Shou swears he hates it. So I was taught that whenever his manager would drop by, I had to help hide Shou.

Jin is hardly seen at Mizer, but when he is, he is high out of his gourd. The "Don't Ask Don't Tell" rule we have at Mizer gives Aoi and Uruha reason not to do anything about it; Jin has never been caught doing drugs, after all. But from his behavior it's fairly obvious that he's nowhere near sober. He often goes to school baked, but to everyone's surprise, he has decent to above average grades in all his classes. He makes me uneasy, but Byou swears the guy is completely harmless. The one and only time he got in trouble for being high was when he did a pole dance in an empty shinkansen, right under the car's security camera. Aoi and Uruha talked to the cops who arrested him. It is unknown what transpired during their discussion, but Jin was eventually released.

Hiroto, Jin's roommate, works with Saga for Malice's school paper. He writes articles and takes most of the photographs that appear on each release. We're not sure if he does drugs, too, but he can definitely hold his liquor a little too well for a minor. He's not intoxicated as often, though, and he has never been in trouble with the authorities. The most dangerous thing he had done while inebriated was somehow boarding a plan to Hokkaido.

Other Characters

Gackt Camui is the principal of Malice High School. He is well-respected among all the high school educators in the prefecture, with Malice being famous for having many of their graduates get into the country's top universities. He changes his hair color every trimester.

Todaka Yuu, nicknamed Yuuto, is one of Malice's youngest and most well-liked teachers. He teaches Japanese History.

Mana is the landlord of Mizer House. He always wears Victorian or Rococo inspired clothing with his long hair in perfect doll curls. He is often seen caring for the flowers in his garden. He never speaks, only doing a strange dance in response to anyone who talks to him or asks him a question. Uruha is the only Mizer resident who can understand Mana’s sign language.
