first ever LG fanart/collab! GLEENESS

Aug 01, 2009 11:57

My very first L/G work and it's really awesome!
This is a collab with the ever creative and talented secondlina! XD
The concept was to exchange sketches and create a final piece that is different from the sketch of the original artist. so much fun and this was completely her idea!

Click images to see actual size!here's the DA piece i've submitted ( Read more... )

I already left a comment over on DA, but I have to thank you for supplying me with 'widescreen' desktop art! I'm always wanting new desktops, but they're also made too small to fit to my screen without me having to shrink the art even smaller. Maybe I should just start making my own... In any case, thanks for thinking of those of us who like to see the whole picture. ^_-

no problem! i like seeing the whole picture myself ;D (only i'm a bit wary of art thieves. hopefully posting it here will prevent that)
i love pictures big and HD because of their details!

"Maybe I should just start making my own"
exactly. If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself lol (or spend many hours finding the right size!)

I absolutely LOVE this! *grabs the blue one for a wallpaper and fiddles with my icons some on my desktop* The art and coloring is absolutely amazing, and you did so much justice to Isa's sketch. *glances at the sketch and grins* I recognize the sketch too!

I never know whether to repeat my comments at dA but as I said there this is a dynamic evocation of perhaps the most pivotal relationship-based scene in the entire series. It is particularly poignant that their tangible forms are breaking off into pure chaos all around them and yet Gourry is determined that Lina be restored to his arms, and you and SecondLina are wise to focus on that aspect of the scene, as well as the fact that Lina continues to ascend more and more out of Gourry's reach. The notion that there are some people for whose love, for whose wellbeing, you would sacrifice the entire world, recurs again and again in this series and I see it so beautifully illustrated here. Everyone can relate to it. There is at least one person we'd do anything for, in a fortunate life. Whatever their relationship, that is definitely Lina and Gourry.

repeats are welcome! i'll be replying to the DA comments soon enough ^o^
the scene just had so much emotion. even when gourry lost the sword of light, it was so significant and symbolic.

you know i never realized that as i watch slayers! you are dead right on target if that's the motive of the author!

thank you once again for such a well-written critique. if anything it helped me realize aspects of the art that i myself didn't realize directly. ^_^
