“What are you going to do?” Ah, yes, Vexen had been correct in assuming that the specimen was an experiment. The calm way it had accepted the needle, the way it was watching Vexen’s actions with perhaps even mild curiosity, as well as cautious apprehension, it was well-trained after all

Turning away, Vexen pulled his medical kit from underneath the table, selecting a scalpel after giving it some thought. The specimen’s eyes narrowed. It was unafraid. He noticed that its jaw was clenched, it was prepared for the pain that it knew was coming.

Vexen really would have liked to meet its creator. He had a feeling they would have gotten along quite well.

Meeting the creature’s gaze, Vexen placed the scalpel against its chest and dug into the specimen’s flesh. “Perhaps we can play again after I’m finished.”
