This con, for gaming at any rate, is a joke.

A big, fat, stinking joke and it was on anyone involved with the Hobby Gaming Industry (as opposed to the Electronic Gaming Industry).   You see, Fan Expo is a convention that caters to a lot of people.  It's got Anime fans, SF fans, Comic Book fans, Horror fans and finally Gaming fans.  I put our

That's happened to me, twice. Once was the fault of my 'contact' who basically forced the con to give me a table because he was someone's assistant. The second time was at a local 'con' [basically a glorified weekend-long anime club meeting] where they totally reversed the room plans

Totally understanding you there. The thing is that AN is actually a pretty damn well run con for all the last minute hand waving and screaming. They do their best to try to accommodate people because they don't forget what it's like to be fans.

This isn't a fan run convention. It's the only real big "corporate" con in Toronto and it done ran and punched itself in the head repeatedly over that weekend.

Frankly, the whole thing, while fun in it's own way, just didn't seem very con-like (says the girl who's only been to one other con.) It felt overcrowded, disorganized, and in general, it didn't look like many people were enjoying themselves. There wasn't the happy "we're all here because we have something in common" vibe that I was expecting
