I admit, I have a thing for voices, especially female. They don't have to be the Hollywood/Broadway ideals - I did grow up listening to broken English spoken with a southern Japanese (a.k.a Okinawan) accent. But I'd much rather hear a woman sing than a man (Gregorian or NeoKhuzdul/Maori chants notwithstanding).

Having been in choirs before (days of the past, alas), I'm more interested in technical quality than any particular tone. Also probably well tied-in to my love of musicals in general.
Although I'm a sucker for certain accents. Spoken or sung, they'll get me everytime.
What do you like in a voice specifically? What makes you think one is better than another?

I tend to like the ethereal, haunting resonance in a voice. That's not the only quality, but the main one. Other qualities I like include sultry-ness, softness, and clarity (not all in the same voice, of course...)
