Wow. Judging by the volume of posts, y'all either had a very busy weekend (a lot to write about) or a very unbusy weekend (lots of time to post on LJ :) ).

There's always a huge markup on jewellery. It's the nature of the trade. I'm lucky in that I can get it at wholesale prices, since I do various bits of work for a friend who trades in it.

Wow, lucky you! :) I need a friend in the jewerly business too (ironically, "Now you have a friend in the diamond business" is the advertising tagline from the place I brought the high-priced ring in question). I can't believe the one diamond we're trying to sell was marked up almost 300%!
