i bought a new 2 gig memory card for my digital camera and wow....it doesn't work. my camera's instruction manual didn't say i couldn't use a card with that much memory or that model (i still bought an SD card, so it should have been fine). now i can't return it because i opened it, and it was basically a waste of 50 dollars. so now i have been ( Read more... )

Certain cameras can only manage the memory of an SD card up to a certain size. It should say that in the manual for your camera. My camera can only handle up to 1 gig before it starts mismanaging the memory.
I'm sure that wasn't very useful. What I am pretty sure about is you could sell your memory card on ebay or take it back to the store and say its broken and you want a smaller card.

most electronic stores will take something back, even if it is open, if you tell them it doesn't work with what you have. I just returned a router I had used for a month.

Mine does the samething, if I fiddle with it enough it eventually takes it, I have the HP Photosmart 435? I think...I can't remember which number. But I bought a 2 gig memory card for it, and it's just retarded sometimes. If I turn it on and take the card out and put the card in after it's one, it SOMETIMES works. I think it's just the cards way of telling me I need a new camera. LOL! But now I have to find one that takes those cards, because I'm not spending another $40 a new card for a new camera. GAH!

Hrm.. I'm not really sure.. If you go back to the Store you got it from and approach that sales person is the best way to handle it. If the guy told you it would work, and it doesn't then you should get all your money back. That's what we do at our store anyway. Take your camera with you though, because they'll want to see it with their own eyes that it doesn't work in your camera.

If you don't want to return it you can typically use them as a sort of 'flash' drive.. To put data on and move it to another computer, since most computers lately have an SD slot built into them. Or you can store all your photos from your other SD card, onto the new one so you don't really have to 'delete' them. Should you ever get one of those Electronic Picture frames, or a tv that has an SD slot, having all your good photos on one SD card is always very handy.

Sorry it's so long.
