I'm not one to use this journal for ranting all that much, but for this I'll make an exception.

First it must be said....
I HATE THE COMMONWEALTH BANK!!!

First things first. I have recently changed my account from the Commonwealth bank purely because of their lack of providing a debit card. However I have a direct debit donation coming out of that ( Read more... )

Actually, it's almost certain DVD Pac didn't charge you twice. When I first got a second shipping notice, I thought it was my copy of Haruhi after windtear's shipped yesterday. It was actually the same shipment, just the first time they only charged shipping for one item when they should have charged 4. I checked against my Visa's account and there's only enough funds reserved for one order of Haruhi. That's when I noticed the shipping charge had changed (I looked at the invoice yesterday and was rather amazed only one shipping item had been charged for).

No, it was definitely an accidental double charge. The e-mail I would have chalked up to a simple glitch but for about eight hours there was enough money reserved for 2 orders. As I said it's been resolved but it was a little worrying.

You remind me of all the bank accounts I have hammered into oblivion through dishonour fees. Except I have no sympathy for them. ;)

It's pretty rare these days to see bank accounts with overdrafts, probably because of exactly the issue you had. It's a shame you ran afoul of it. :(

If they had sent me notification after the first time it happened I wouldn't have been nearly so steamed. I just would have chalked it up to my own fault for not cancelling the direct debit. But the fact they did it twice before contacting me is what really got under my skin.

Owch. Now you know why I Don't Do direct debit. And why that's the Which Bank To Avoid.

Would you like anything special on your sandwiches tomorrow? (It's the sandwiches again because my oven has decided to be unreliable. It's oh so fun to have to switch all your flat's power off at the mains and then on again to get the oven to switch on. NOT.)

Well the account it now closed and all that remains is to inform HRI of the fact.

I'm fine with the regular sandwhiches anyway. There's no need to do anything special. We all have days like that and yesterday was my turn.
