Another election

Another election, another marijuana initiative. I usually find them comic, since even if they pass there's no way for them to go into effect. But the weirdness* around medical marijuana - which has been de facto legal in Colorado for the last several years now; about a year back, whenever I was on the southbound Broadway bus, I'd count the medical ( Read more... )

Marijuana passes,* as does the "toothless"** campaign finance restrictions. According to the newspaper, the marijuana initiative will take a couple of months to be certified. Then we get to see what the U.S. Attorney's office does. If the decision is hands off, then we become as big a tourist destination as the Netherlands is! (Well, skiing will still be the bulk of it.)

Obama may have won Nov. 6, but Serebro just won Nov. 7. (Missed it on the Jukebox, as I've missed every song for the past c. 8 months. Will be back for Amnesty Week, though.)

So's the album, Mama Lover (of which there seem to be several versions). One thing about "Gun" is that it's as much "pop rock" as it is "dance," and there is a bit of Ashlee-like catty yowl in the singing (though not a lot, and not evident in any of Serebro's other tracks).

Yes, album (listened today) is, as they say, a gas. Half-tempted to fill my ballot with the best pop albums from different countries Pop World Cup style. Farrah Abraham representing US pop would be my "statement," I guess. (Justin Bieber and Carly Rae Jepsen can duke it out as Canadians; After School and Orange Caramel can fight themselves to represent SK).
