I tend to ham it up when my nationality comes into question on line. I start typing in LULZSPEK and living out stereotypes. Not quite what they want typically. Or another strategy, if you just preface "american" with "unfortunately" they tend to be pleased and everyones friends. A german girl once pronounced me the only american with no ego. Little did she know, I'm a total egotist.
I honestly do dislike my country, and do consider it unfortunate that I am here in it, because of the way our society and political climate is. I am not read to leave for good though, until I've seen the rockies, pacific northwest, deep midwest, new england, the AZ/NM desert, nevada, utah, and the SD badlands.
-And my sense of humor is also one that likes LULZ, stereotypes, spectacle, and general jackassedry and shenanigans more than is perhaps befitting of the way i think a person my age ought act.
Though it would be deceptive if I were to omit that sometimes I just don't want to be troubled with the "american" stigma.
Also: the final, german girl statement, was tossed in with the intention of spicing things up with a little humor. Whether or not that was achieved I'll not tarry with, preferring only to make no promises of cleverness so late in hour and light on sleep as it was at the time of the statement. :P
