I finally got my Kung Fu Panda book Monday... turns out the "yay you got a package!" slip never got to me. Worries over! And HOLY CRAP is it ever a gorgeous book. 92 pages on the characters alone... Nicolas Marlet is my new art hero. I'm going to be studying this stuff quite happily for a while.

Also, I saw Wall-E. It was pretty great. Everything ( Read more... )

I liked Wall*E most, but they are just very different. I saw Kung Fu Panda right before my last exam, and the whole "there's no secret ingredient" thing was just that I needed to feel all right and ready. But Wall*E was more like something to bring me alive after those crazy two months. I guess it touched so much right chords in my soul that I can't be critical about that movie :3 It was about the same with Ratatouille.

I might agree about cartoony people, but on the other hand... uber-overweight people in red tight jumpsuits... I'm not sure if I'd want them to look realistic :P

Yeah, I really sound critical here in writing, but I did enjoy the movie. I think the cartoony people would have been fine, but then they made that contrast with the live action. Maybe even more "pushed" human designs a la Ratatouille might have been nice. They just weren't very interesting to look at the way they are.

But then more robot stuff would happen and I'd be all "awwww...." and forget about my criticism about the people. Wall-E is like a 2nd grader with his first crush and it's so cute I almost melted.

Ratatouille people were awesome *nods*
And it's okay to be critical, it's actually weird that I'm not critical... doesn't happen often :)
