Strange Fruit

I was watching an episode of Cold Case called "Strange Fruit" that was about a young black chess player who was lynched in 1963.

At the end of the episode, there's a montage featuring Nina Simone's version of "Strange Fruit". Scene is here - spoilers of course.

Same, was just listening to Nina's version and Tori today although I have to say that the Mika version is the one I love best right now. It's so haunting and creepy. That being said, I have Ella playing right now, singing 'The Very Thought of You' and the sentiment of that that's about as far away from Strange Fruit as one can get! :)

Great song. I actually own some Miki Howard music (on a cassette tape, I think), but Strange Fruit is not one of the songs. I'll have to look into that. I have the Billie Holiday version, though. Thanks for linking to the videos.

I think Miki sang it on a Billie tribute album. I adore her version beyond telling. You're most welcome. I didn't think anyone else would be interested
