2007 is the year of the fire pig
I normally wait until new year's day to post this but arrietty wanted to know when the new year was.
17 February is new year's eve. On 18 February, the Year of the Oink Oink (pig) will commence. More accurately, it is the year of the 'fire pig'. In China, the pig ( 豬 ) is associated with fertility and virility. To bear children in the year of the pig is considered very fortunate, for they will be happy and honest.
From wikipedia (although modified slightly): The pig-type is usually an honest, straightforward and patient person. They are a modest, shy character who prefers to work quietly behind the scenes. When others despair, they are often there to offer support. This type of person is reserved with those they do not know too well, but as time passes and they gain confidence, those around them may discover a lively and warm-hearted person behind that mask of aloofness. Despite those born in the year of pig having a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, they have few close friends who understand them and share their inner thoughts and feelings. It is easy to put trust in pig type; they won't let you down and will never even attempt to do so. Such people simply want to do everything right according to social norms.

I am a midnight cow/ox, so for me, the year of the hard working pig brings good fortune. According to my horoscope: "The energy is there to get more done and this brings prosperity and success to the sturdy ox. Just remember that this is also a year of celebration. The ox should not become so busy with work that he misses the invitation to the banquet table. It is there that new opportunities will be discovered. The ox should take care to include time for romance in this year's busy work schedule."
Problem is this place has a slightly contradictory horoscope.
