I've only ever done unofficial book crossing - leaving in books in B&B's and such. This sounds intriguing :)

The 'capture rate' is much higher in some countries than others. China, I fear, has a tiny release rate let alone capture rate. :P

I have that problem, too. I can almost never part with books I like, but sometimes I have duplicates or books I was given as a gift that I didn't really like. For instance, I didn't enjoy the Philip Pullman books at all so after I read the first one I, released that into the wild - and a lot of people like that book. I do feel bad sometimes that I only release books I don't like, but well - everyone has different tastes and chances are a book I don't like, someone else might. I don't think I could ever part with the Old Kingdom books - they're so good. The final chapters of Abhorsen are always so terrifying and suspenseful. Doesn't matter how many times I read it - I always get tense. *hugs Francis Tindall her favourite obscure minor character*
