Did I mention Takeshi was really hot in this movie? The storyline was a little odd.

Exactly how I feel about the movie! I watched it in Cantonese in Sydney, and Takeshi is just so gorgeous in it, I cannot look away every time he's on screen. Aww, so adorable and angsty!

I felt the storyline was pretty predictable (well, after the big reveal about Tony Leung anyway), and Tony Leung's character was quite unsympathetic to the point that I just didn't really feel that his character was so much tragic as just unsympathetic? I don't know. Will wait and see your full length review.

It's a very nice thing you're doing for your ayi. It'll be a more practical gift indeed! :)

I'm not sure how I feel seeing Tony Leung in such an unsympathetic role.

That was one of the things I really didn't like about 2046 and make me hesitate to watch it again. I will though sometime - a few people other than just you have told me they really liked it, and some insisted it needs a 2nd viewing to be appreciated ;)

I think we all know how you feel about stalking and talking about Takeshi ;) Now I want to see that movie - although I am disturbed at the idea of Tony being a bad guy! How was Xu Jinglei in the movie - did she have much of a role or was she just the token wife figurehead?

Well the thing is, I don't tend to watch much of the Tony Leung storyline except where he's with Faye's character. I do watch him interact with Lulu because I love the music 'Perfidia' but apart from that, I just watch:

- faye / tony
- faye kimura

It's like the rest doesn't really exist although I have watched the complete movie several times.

Takeshi is really attractive in the movie and the most sympathetic character. Poor Tony is hampered by a bad script, a bad character and really bad glasses.
