Wilhelm, wo ist die Rübe? / Shows I have loved and lost [updated 8 September 2009]

'Meerschweinchen' is guinea pig. 'Meerschweinchenaufgabe' is guinea pig task. Mein Gott, Wilhelm - wo ist die Rübe???? ("Wilhelm - where is the turnip?" :) nerdy2 (who is German) gave a hilarious link to The Awful German Language by Mark Twain.

I would flully support you if you chose to have marrying Michael Scofield as one of your interests....because I have marrying David Tennant as one of mine!

Thinking about cancelled shows just makes me Nemo. Farscape I mourn for thee. And Arrested Development. And Wonderfalls.

I have to admit that after I watched the Christmas Invasion, you might have had to fight me off in relation to marrying David Tennant. He makes 'geek' look totally hot.

Space: Above and Beyond

Such a travesty, I agree!

Randomly, I once attempted to write my own version of a second season. Got as far as five and a half stories and then anime stole my soul.

*sigh* I kept hoping that they'd make a new season. There was much fan outrage but as the years went by, my hope died :'(

Due South, Firefly, Farscape, The Embassy (only like five episodes for that show! I was crushed).

A five episode show. OK that really sucks! I LOVE our icon. It looks so gorgeous! I really have to watch Farscape. Hmm

I agree with you on many of them. But please, do watch the rest of Farscape plus the miniseries. It does have an ending, more or less, and it's not too painful. There aren't any scary cliffhangers, and things do get wrapped up. It is quite simply one of the best series I have ever seen.

I cry bitter tears over Firefly!

I really want to watch Farscape because I loved season 1. I went rummaging through my discs last night and realised that I had grabbed a collection of eps to bring with me to China but they are scattered everywhere and the series never made it to China. I used to order the dvd box sets from the UK which is why I saw season 1 and then I watched bits and pieces of season 2 and the spoilers were kind of odd like John marrying something else or something which seems strange so I allowed myself to get distracted by other shows even though I always intended to return. Then when when it was cancelled, I wonder if I wanted to go through the angst of another cancelled show. But if there is closure - I shall watch! :D Although if there is a major character death (meep! serenity! meep!), I'd like some warning. :'(

Yes, there is major character death. Three of them, in fact. I'll explain more in email if you really want to know. ;) Sorry! But the deaths make the show much more poignant and I'm actually not sorry for them, as much as I desperately miss the characters and wish we could have them back.

I'll say again, for whatever its flaws, it was one of the most most creative, risk-taking, well-written, beautiful series I've ever seen. And John & Aeryn are probably one of the greatest (if not the greatest) tv OTP.

*meep* OK, as long as you can assure me that John/Aeryn end up together and neither of those two dies, I will watch unspoiled and need know no more, but otherwise .... tellllllll meeeeeeeeeee!!!! :)

So you were a Max/Alec shipper. I liked how their relationship developed as I felt they became friends, but I was a Logan/Max shipper. :D I wasn't as pleased with season 2 though. I didn't like that they had Logan walking so quickly. I have to use a wheelchair because I'm paralyzed from the waist down. For that reason it was nice to see a lead character in a show who used a wheelchair and was seen as someone with romantic potential instead of the token one time character or minor character who is rather asexual.

I was just really getting into Firefly when it was cancelled. Grrr. Serenity just depressed me. At one point in the movie was wondering if any of them were going to come out alive.

My mom gave me s1-2 of Due South on DVD. I go back and forth accepting the second Ray. When I think of the series finale it irks me that David Marciano was barely in the ep. At those times I rather think of Flashback as being the last ep. of the series.

I LOVED Alec and thought his connection with Max was just so adorable. Logan I loved in season 1 but then he became really annoying in season 1 and Alec was just cooler so I found my affections straying :)

Serenity was depressing but really beautiful-looking. I also love Mal/River as a pairing and Serenity had that beautiful ending.
