I'm definitely making the most of my day off. I'm supposed to meet up with ZSS tomorrow as well as with Singapore Girl and a friend from out of town so today is dedicated to being Vegie Reading/Watching Day. A while back I mentioned that I bought Gravity by Tess Gerritsen. I just finished reading it and thought it was very good.

Oooh, thanks - I will definitely be on the lookout for "The Horseman on the Roof"; I love seeing Juliette Binoche play!

And I am fascinated by war stories/movies as well. Was about to comment that that is my secret pleasure, rather than epidemic stories, when I read your last sentence, hehe.

You'll enjoy "The Horseman on the Roof". Not only is Juliette Binoche very lovely, but so is Oliver Martinez and the landscape is stunning. The novel is quite good, too. I have the original French and the English translation, too.

War stories are fascinating, whether they are stories about a war or the war merely as a backdrop for a love story or a drama. I'm a particular sucker for love stories between enemies - there's something more hopeful about those because they're a reminder that people are just people although I suppose the reality is that love stories between enemies result in one person being called a traitor or a collaborator :P

The Horseman on the Roof it's a lovely movie but don't know why I keep a sad feeling about it. I just remember the scenes where he takes care of her and all... nothing else, really.

Yes he looks after her when she comes down with cholera. The character he plays is rather idealised actually - he helps out the doctor earlier in the story and then her, both with absolutely no worry for his own health etc. It's very touching.

Gravity sounds cool, I have a trip to Alberqurque the week after next and I will be looking for plane reading material. I will look for it on my next trip to Barnes and Nobel

Gravity is a very entertaining read. Much better than the Crichton which I have now ditched as boring.
