I only had a chance to watch 3 of these but they were wonderful.
My only quasi complaint was that the narrator/host had an over abundance of exuberance at times (and looked just like my ex's dad).

The subject matter was very interesting.

Interesting this sounds like something I watched a few years ago on our public broadcasting station. I don't recall a whole lot about it though. I might see if I can find this.

It's interesting - good luck finding it. The torrent link is below and it didn't take too long to d/l because I did one ep at a time

I think I saw a couple of these episodes in NZ, but they had them on at some unearthly hour like 11pm so I missed most of them. Thanks for pointing this out, as the kids would appreciate this too.

Enjoy! It's an entertaining series although I wish I could remember all the words and origins he threw out at me :D

Thank you... I started to download it, but it is using all my download limit - so will have to finish it off next month.

That sounds really interesting! I am always fascinated by my grandparents ability to speak 'Plattdeutsch' a type of German that sounds very english and that shares many words and pronunciations.
I also think it's funny that you say the German fear the english intrusions (which is true) and use the word 'angst' in the same sentence. Hee, we don't look like it, but we sneak up on the english language :)

Well you should check out this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QedsH14GPUA about useful German words :D

There are a lot of great German words that have entered English, although I fear 'angsting' as a verb is a bit scary even from an English perspective as is 'angsty' :D

That was funny! Although I don't think the first german word even exists... At least I have never heard of 'Scheissenbedauern'

:)

Well, it wouldn't be the first time English called something German when it wasn't :D let's not even start on fake German accents :D
