I've never really swooned over Mr Rochester either - though he's not as bad as Heathcliff. Too manipulative in the beginning for me. His relationship with Jane seems so unequal, even at the end: he has to be maimed and dependent on her before they're finally together. Their relationship never seemed to be a partnership.
