I've been able to read quite a few books now after having got my Kindle 2. At the hairdresser, during the occasional spare moment and in particular during the travelling with the Canadian and his parents - we had a lot of airport time and flying time in which I could catch up on reading.

Glad you enjoyed Shakespeare's Wife. I'm looking forward to reading the Bryson Shakespeare book and his other stuff - this is on my to do list post-phd. :) I'm going to read a Jodi Picoult book for the first time soon - got it for $1 at a fete and was curious to see why she's so popular. I'm lucky (in one sense) that I spend almost 2 hours on public transport every day so I have time to read these things!

2 hours on public transport!?! Good grief :) Still, as you say - it's awesome reading time although I'm not sure I'd be able to cope with how early I'd need to get up.

Jodi Picoult isn't fabulous but some of her books are certainly very readable and very interesting. I'll be interested to see what you think.

You need to read "In a Sunburned Country", and learn all the ways you can die horribly on an Australian beach. "Notes from a Small Island" is very good too. "Walk in the Woods" was my very first Bryson book though, and it still remains my favorite!

Heee I love that book. It was the first Bryson book I read - but in Australia (for some reason), it's called "Down Under". He is so funny. At first I was a bit hesitant to read it, thinking it would be filled with mistakes and stereotypes from an American - but it was very funny!
