Pronouncing the word Beijing :)

Heh heh. arietty was just asking me how do you pronounce the word 'Beijing. She said:

As we've always pronounced it with a softer sounding J, but we've noticed through the games that it is more of a normal sounding J.

Thank you for this. I was pretty sure that the commentators were correct, especially the ones that were actually in Beijing. lol

It's like the french call our country Nouvelle Zealander when it isn't pronounced like that at all, but as you know New Zealand. Rome = Roma, etc.

It's been nice to listen to some commentators say it correctly - although others adamantly stick to the 'zh' sound. In Dutch it's still called Peking - pronounced Pay-king. :-)
