I was at at art exhibition at the Forbidden City with WSJ the other day and we saw this rather cool calligraphy scroll that uses ancient Chinese script.
Well, China is part of Asia, but what I mean is you were saying how beautiful you find Asian languages because they're so pretty - what you mean to say is that you like characters, because there are Asian languages that don't use characters. Please don't lump them all together.
I get that you mean no disrespect, but as a person of complicated Asian heritage, I get this WOAH gut reaction when people lump everything together like that.
孙 is my last name! Although, I don't write it simplified and write it the traditional/long way for the right side part of the character.
good stuff. A lot of Chinese restaurants in Toronto use a Chinese script/typography for their signs that calls bad to the old characters--it's awfully hard to identify half the words sometimes, but it's neat.

You tell the difference in meanings via context, same way you tell the difference between words in English that look the same, like 'wind' and 'wind.'
