when you automatically judge someone on their beliefs because of the opinions youve formed about their beliefs, does that make you any better than let's say a "christian"? I understand people come from all kinds of different backgrounds but there's nothing i hate more than someone who is ready to ridicule you the second you say you believe in ( Read more... )

I'm down. I also totally disagree with the idea that we're some accident and because of that we should just go with the flow and have a good time and not attempt to make a difference. Knowing you're itty bitty and being humble is important but you have to go against that at some point at least if you want to make a difference. There are too many bad things that need to get fixed. Everyone that we learn about in school we remember for a reason. We're put here amidst all of these problems and it's our mission to do something about it. That's what I believe.

I believe we're an accident and I think its amazing, we're the accident that can understand ourselves while most others can't. And "accident" is a bad word to use anyway, evolution and science don't say we're accident, on the contrary they say we're super-developed specialized amazing life forms.
Of course we can make a difference within humanity, this planet, the stars, and we should. Believing we're specs of sand in a vast ocean doesn't = go with the flow and have a good time. I'm not be defensive, I just realize now that even within my own group of friends the beliefs I go with are... not well understood.

I could go on for a long time about the eye since a lot of people bring it up as being "too complex" to have come about in nature. I don't type that much anymore though ( ... )

yeah i've read a lot about the eye too it's just that all of those explanations don't satisfy me...i understand where the reasoning comes from though...but just like religious explanations dont satisfy me, science's explanations just dont really do it for me. it's hard to agree on these things though but i feel happy with what i don't know. the entry was mostly about me venting about people who are quick to judge someone else's beliefs and thinking they can decide what is ok to believe. in the end, i do think science explains a lot but like i said...those explanations just dont conclude anything for me. i completely understand your stance though and i respect it. i guess i just believe in the unexplainable and the mystery behind our coming to be.

yeah that makes sense, and I can't say that I have full faith in science or anything like that, but I feel like eventually they'll know a lot more than they do now, because its an ongoing process, as apposed to the "THIS IS THE FINAL WORD" attitude of many religious books of the world
