"Oh." Michael listened carefully to the phone pressed against his ear. He was currently alone in his office, but anyone with him would have noticed his eyebrows rise. "Oh, is that a fact? Well, that's ... a real shame."

Again, had anyone been there they would have seen his eyes dart, his slightly confused expression. They might also have noticed the ( Read more... )

Sudoku. He'd heard about it, and having nothing better to do, had downloaded some of the puzzles, looking for a challenge.

... Which really wasn't, for a computer. Nice idea, anyway. Maybe he'd stick to playing chess online, instead. He usually defeated his human opponents, but once in a while they did surprise him with an unexpected move that changed the whole game.

Or maybe he'd just watch the news, or a movie, or...

Or wait for Michael to arrive.

Upon proceeding to Penn Station ...

The situation is under control ...

See, what happened was ...

Michael start and dismissed around half a dozen approaches to the report to Roger on his way downstairs; this was gonna be a toughie. Hey, Rog - we hit Penn with a bunch of aliens trying to find a vampire ... Yeahhhh, like he was gonna believe that!

For a second he considered plastering a smile on his face before goin in the see Kitt, but thought better of it. Assuming Kitt didn't see right through it in the very first instant, Michael probably couldn't keep it up for long. Instead he just pushed open the door and went in, letting his expression fall where it may.

"Hey, buddy."

"Michael." He already knew from his body language, his facial expression, his tone of voice - Michael was worried. It didn't surprise Kitt in the least, and this was one time that he was secretly glad that he wasn't the one who had to report to Gage or Roger. Moreso Gage.

"You look terrible."

He didn't particularly care if Gage knew - well, knew about the little faux pas in public, that is. The rest he'd much rather keep under wraps. But as for Kitt being able to change like that, he was more than 3/4 convinced Gage was already aware.

No, it was Roger that Michael was not looking forward to speaking with. He liked and respected Roger, and once the guy was officially CEO Michael had been intending to bring him down, take him for a spin in Kitt and spill the beans about the ... yeah, them. And It, up in the sky. But he'd intended to break the news gently for want of a better term. Not on the back of an incident report like this one.

"Well." He stopped in front of Kitt, hands in his pockets and rocking to and fro on his heels. "I have some good news, and I have some bad news."

Having no idea about any of the assorted weirdness above and within the city, Dannie Blaze was continuing with a normal day's work...or as normal as work ever got around FLAG.

Laptop bag slung over one shoulder, she wandered down the corridors and out the entrace into the warm sunshine, wincing as her eyes suddenly tried to adjust to the bright light before she turned and began walking towards the garage.

Her main intention for today was to show Kitt the deisgns and simulations that she and the CGI boys had done on her 'holographic stealth' system, so see if the AI had any suggestions or objections to any part of the technology.

She touched her hand to the thumb-print scanner that lead to the secure garage, not really expecting anyone else to be there.

OK, he was getting better. Old habits really did die hard, but sometimes it took a little while to properly bring them back to life.

Michael heard the sound of the door and the soft footsteps, and in spite of the fact that the security system wouldn't have allowed anyone unauthorised into the building he made sure that Kitt and Kitt's trusty MBS were between him and the newcomer when she arrived.

"Hi there."

She looked up in surprise as a voice that was definately *not* Kitt's addressed her. She blinked up at the man she knew to be Michael Knight awkwardly for a moment.
"Oh, sorry," She said, "I didn't realise anybody else was in here."

She set down her laptop bag and held out her hand, the light from the overhead flourescent lights shining off the shiny satin of her blue poet's shirt.
"I don't think we've been properly introduced," She smiled, "I'm Dannie Blaze, Chief Technical Supervisor."

"Hey, no problem." Michael walked around to shake her hand, "Just a couple of old friends having a chat. Michael Knight." He kinda figured she knew that already, but it was only polite to say.

"I'm afraid the lack of introduction has been completely my fault. Something which I'm ... extremely sorry for." Almost a cocky grin, subdued as he remembered that Dannie was an employee. "Was there something you need to be working on here? Cos I can get out of your way ... ?"
