Now, as in the past, whenever Kitt had things he needed to think about, he invariably ended up at the test track on the Foundation's lush grounds. The setting may have been different, but the atmosphere was the same, and as he took each curve at speed, or turboboosted over the obstacles in his path with a practiced ease, he soon found himself going over the events of the past few days, trying to sort everything into a coherent whole that would make some semblance of sense.

It really didn't matter that things weren't coming together as he'd hoped they might, as it was mostly the process and not the end result that mattered. There were too many loose ends that hadn't yet been tied, too many variables, too many unpredictable situations to create plausible scenarios for.

While that would normally have been frustrating - and still was, he wouldn't deny it - he really wasn't so much concerned with finding the answers as he was with having a moment to take a step back from everything and indulge in the simple pleasures to be derived from the test track.
