Following this, this, and concurrent with this and this.Logan was, in a word, infuriating. New York was even more so, if only because there weren't any readily available lonely, open stretches of road for him to work out his frustrations. The lack of scenic beaches wasn't doing anything to help his mood ( Read more... )

It was just after lunch when Logan returned to FLAG.

Since the time he parted company with Kitt, he'd been thinking over their conversation. Kitt had shared a monumental secret with him and his reaction had been to get uncomfortable and difficult. For that he felt bad. The shock of the transformation had taken him by surprise. Keith was Kitt and Kitt was Keith. Two individuals, or so he thought were individuals, were in fact one and the same.

But that wasn't why he got uncomfortable and defensive. Yes the transformation was a shock but nothing he couldn't have handled with a moment to adjust to the idea. The problem came from Kitt's affection. The shock of that, quickly followed by the idea that he was touching a man. The hood of the car would be equivalent to what? Kitt's stomach? That was an intimate touch. All purposeful touches were intimate but that just seemed more-so.

In the end, not being there for someone who wanted his support got to him. Enough that his first stop on returning to FLAG was to find Kitt.

In the end, he'd decided against the test track, opting instead to simply return to his garage and spend some time re-charging. To say that he'd had a busy night was an understatement all around, and the confrontation with Logan hadn't helped matters one bit. He had every intention of researching the strange people he'd met that evening, delving into their backgrounds for any scraps of information he could find, and cross-referencing them against Lee and Sharon to see if there were any connections to be made. If he found anything useful, he would inform them of such, but he wasn't going to get in their way the way Logan wanted to.

That could wait. All of it. For now he was content to settle and re-charge, allowing himself to drift into the dream-like state of free-association as the electricity flowed through his systems.

Deciding that the garage would be the most logical place to look for Kitt, Logan headed there. Outside the door he paused. He had no problem apologizing when he'd messed up, in fact he was rather used to doing it in his personal life but it wasn't something he normally did in his work life. That was part of the problem he thought, the two lives he always kept very separate were merging together into one. It wasn't something he was sure he liked yet or not.

A quick rap on the door and then he opened it and stuck his head in. Kitt was parked in his bay, but Logan didn't realize what state Kitt was in. Didn't realize he was sleeping for all intents and purposes.

"Hey, Kitt. Do you have a minute?"

Perhaps it was because he'd never known anything else, but for Kitt FLAG, and the people who worked for it, weren't just associates or colleagues; they were his family. There was no separation of work and personal lives for him.

Or at least, that was how it used to be. Things had changed, obviously, and Kitt would have to change with them.

At Logan's voice, he was instantly alert, all systems online and ready to go.

"Always."
