Send mail as ...

GMail has come up with a stunner of a feature. Impressed me a mighty lot. You can send mails with a different From: header. And if you can forward that address to your GMail account, nothing like it. Once GMail interface - multiple accounts. Waiting for the day when GMail will become mutt :-)

I don't like the way gmail displays threads. Figuring out from the "Conversation" view is a real pain, especially when the thread is more than a linear sequence of replies, in the case of multiple replies to the same message.

I would like to have control over my messages --- being able to do a less, grep on my mailbox file.

Though this is not a comparison to mutt, gmail is really poor when it comes to rendering HTML emails. Not respecting CSS, etc. is really bad. This is problem is understandable though, because gmail has to display HTML (message) inside a HTML page (the gmail interface) which is non-trivial considering what gmail does. I like Yahoo! when it comes
to displaying HTML mails.

Hmm, I've also noticed this in the spam ads that I receive. Those are pretty much the only HTML mails I receive in GMail. So the lack of proper support for HTML does not bother me much.

I had brought in the mutt comparison primarily because of the key board shortcuts that GMail has.

I would love to always have ssh access to my mailbox. But unfortunately am firewalled most of the time.

problem with pc anonymous December 17 2006, 09:15:03 UTC
Hello,
I am having trouble with my Internet explorer. It is doing some very odd things.Sometimes it will completely close the page i am visiting for no reason or it will be very slow loading pages and when i say slow i mean very very very slow for eg i tried to google something and after 10 minutes of the page trying to load i gave up.I thought that it was perhaps the topic i was searching so i tried putting in random things to see if that made any difference but it didn't.Another problem i had was when i was on a forum and clicked on a link and nothing happened i tried to open a new tab and that wouldn't work either and it would let me access any options that are in my tools menu.i had to restart my computer.Just to let you know i have high speed Internet connection. Thanks in advance to anyone that helps me with this problem.
