I am shocked and awed though I shouldn't be. I have been close to the military all my life as a Navy Brat. I have known many gays and lesbians and have seen their struggle to keep their private lives private. But I didn't know it was this serious. I am appalled. What is your take? Do you have a side in this?
Well, as a gay man, naturally I would like to see equality. We don't want special rights, we just want to be able to have the same rights as everyone else does, be that in the privacy of our own homes, at work (whether it's an office or a battlefield), and where health-care is concerned
( ... )
I totally agree. I figure it shouldn't matter if the man or woman putting their life on the line to protect my freedom, is gay or not. I think if there were more gays and lesbians in the service maybe the uniforms would be nicer. Sorry stereo-type. But seriously, I say forget about the politics of it, freedom is freedom. It shouldn't matter your sexual preference. Maybe I am biased because I am bisexual and I absolutely adore gays and lesbians. We are all the same, we just appreciate a different part of each others anatomies.
I think the military should support gays instead of kicking them out. I can't imagine what it would be like going from day to day trying to hide your sexual preference. People shouldn't have to do that. This is America for petes sake.
