In the last 20 years, has there been a depiction (TV or movie) of a newly pregnant woman seeking an abortion and receiving one? Or do they always change their minds/conveniently miscarry/aren't actually knocked up?

movies, question, tv, feminism, hmm

Is your search limited to American TV and film?

Oh, there's Cider House Rules--that's about all I can come up with. The abortion storyline on Maude was more than 20 years ago.

Ideally, but not entirely limited. I know there was a movie recently called "two months, three weeks, five days" or something like that in which someone and her friend desperately sought an abortion. It wasn't American but Eastern European, and from a country that didn't condone abortion. So what countries would be most likely to produce movies where an abortion occurs? Scandinavia? Australia? Clearly, having all red yeses across this chart isn't enough to show abortion positively in pop culture.

I am sure there are a few. Unable to think of any not already mention here and that the character then regreted it some how.

Six Feet Under season 3. I'm sure I can think of more given a little time. Also in Dogma, the savior of the world works in an abortion clinic. Not quite the same, but worth mentioning.

Oooh, you're totally right about Dogma! That counts.

I feel like if there is one, it's usually portrayed in a not so positive way, like in Knocked Up where the flamboyant and drunkenish mom confesses her previous abortions.

I saw some made-for-TV movie back in high school (well, for a college class I as taking at the time), that was about 3 women and how they handled unexpected pregnancy. I think it had Cher in it. There is a chance I'm completely butchering my memory, though. The Six Feet Under example is definitely a good one too.
