Pac-Man Scarf Pattern

Dec 07, 2005 00:05

A few weeks back, I posted pics of my Pac-Man scarf in progress. here's the chart I made up for it:

Suggestion: save the image to your computer, then when printing, choose "fill page" or whatever option you have that is similar. The chart is made to fill a full sheet, landscape. I scaled it down 1/2 size for web viewing. If you need the full size image, I can provide it via email. Email me at dbinfo at mare-serenitatis dot net.

Knit on size 8 circular needle, 36" long. The needle is just to accommodate the sts, not to knit in the round.

The yarns are as follows:

Black: Cascade Eco Wool in charcoal (not quite darkest black)
Peach, Red, Yellow, and Orange: Cascade 220
Dark Blue: Knitpicks Wool of the Andes in Winter's Night
Light Blue: not used in my version (husband decided he didn't want the blue one at the last minute) but I would have also used Cascade 220.

The eyes of the ghosts (not pictured in the chart) will be embroidered on later. The power dot was knit in fair isle method for the four middle rows and then the additional stitches will be duplicate-stitched on.

For the scarf, I provisionally cast on about 175 sts (give or take a few) and did seed stitch for the first four and last four rows, changing to stockinette for the body. The whole thing is knit side to side, with the ghosts and Pac-man being knit in intarsia, and the dots in fair isle. On one side, Pac-man is about to get a power dot just before going after the ghosts; on the other, he's running away from them but about to get one just in time.

Once both sides are done, I will be 3-needle binding off the 2 pieces at both top and bottom with wrong sides together. I plan to use a larger needle than the ones i'm knitting on, so I can keep the edges stretchy. Then, I will add fringe to the ends using mostly black and a few strands of the colors.

Here are the pics (again) of the finished side 1:

I hope this helps you all! Remember that Pac-man is c. Namco and this pattern is created for use for free. It cannot be sold or kitted. Have fun!
