A wool or wool blend should work it will be warmer though. Also have you tried washing and blocking your headband. If not I would give it a try it might fix your problems.

I'm going to try blocking when I get it finished. In the meantime, I've been experimenting with needle sizes and have been getting better results with smaller needles.

It sounds like a simple lack-of-practice problem. I-cords are tricky. Just practice it a couple of times to find your own inner zen - I'm sure it will be fine then!

Also, blocking. It's not quite magic like blocking wool, but it can't hurt to try.

I find I'm getting better results with smaller needles. I was working with a 7, then tried 5s and 3s. The threes are working out much better. Thanks for the advice!
