Ever look at an LCD monitor from an angle? The black areas look almost iridescent, or at least they stand out in sharp contrast to the rest of the image. Here's how to get a similar effect in Gimp. It isn't foolproof with easily reproducible results, but this simple technique can be a basis for many neat things.

First of all, I apologize for my long hiatus. In mid-december, it was finals and then, with brilliant timing, my hard drive fails.
