James hadn't liked zoos when he was a child, seeing the animals pacing aimlessly back and forth in their bare cages. He'd felt a connection even then, not that he'd understood what it was for years, all he knew was that animals didn't belong in cages.
He hadn't been able to do anything back then, but he could for the inmates of the menagerie until they could be returned home. He might complain about the expenses for all of Abby's environmental enhancements, but he also made sure they were signed off.
But he still hated that they were in cages.
