Lester winced at the squelching mud before looking up at Lyle's gasp. A muttering mob had gathered before the wattle-and-dab huts, hollow-eyed children making warding signs and the men wielded pitchforks. Not unlike scenes from Connor's bad movies and Lester didn't need to be told Lyle's thumbs were itching.
The three travellers slowly back towards the anomaly before the mob cried out and ran as a cackle filled the air and a dark shape flew across the moon before circling back towards them.
Lyle cursed and Lester agreed, he'd never been a fan of Halloween at the best of times.
