James found returning to the ARC to be a relief, he'd fretted over what Burton might do to the project in his absence - although not as much as he'd worried about Connor and what Burton might try without James there to stop him.
It was not, however, the triumphant return that James had dreamed of.
Connor fell silent and looked hurt whenever James was around, which had Abby glaring at him. Even worse, bloody Burton gloated over the atmosphere between James and his team. If fact, the only individual who had a warm greeting for him had been Monty.
