I'm driving to southern NH this weekend for a shindig and will have ~12 hours in the car with myself. This is time I like to use for catching up on podcasts, but I'm kind of bored with what I have and/or don't have enough of ( Read more... )

hm...
I like car talk call of the week (but it's only like 8 minutes/episode)
I also like StoryCorps
Driveway Moments is great and can sometimes be up to an hour
and now NPR has Selected Shorts, which is short stories read by their authors or actors, which can also be up to an hour, I think...

But definitely driveway moments

oh... and Wait Wait Don't Tell Me! That's a good way to kill an hour per episode.

also... World Cafe Live is in Philly! and it's awesome!

The end.

Not sure if that was helpful or not... *sigh*

Oooh! I'm going to try Selected Shorts. Driveway Moments has been low-traffic of late. :-\

I don't feel like I could stock up on WWDTM or Car Talk, ya know? Good calls for everyday listening, though..

Dude! WWDTM is awesome!
plus an hour is a long time
plus Carl Cassell(sp?) is awesome
Although I guess you wouldn't really want to listen to one from like a month ago since all the news will be old. sad.

Car Talk is good if you're mind is drifting too much w/ longer stuff, since they're short. And I think they have about 15 episodes up, which would be about 1.5-2 hours worth of goodness.

Have fun!
and drive safely!

I agree. WWDTM is super awesome. One full hour of complete and utter awesomeness. Wish I could have Carl Kasell on my home answering machine!

I started listening to this podcast theWatt soon before it stopped updating regularly and I haven't gone back and listened to older episodes, but it's basically a podcast on alternative energy. I also like KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic and they podcast that.

Coincidentally, I'll be driving THROUGH southern NH to get to northern VT this weekend for a shindig. (My grandmother turns 80. We will barbecue various meat products and toss horseshoes vaguely in the direction of iron stakes for points.)

As I near the VT border I will tune my radio to 102.7 WEQX Manchester and enjoy the delightful indie rock goodness.

Ah, thanks for the radio station recommendation! I had figured I'd just scan the dial.

Wave if you see a red Pontiac Grand Am with NY plates and a topless brown man....
