I just realized my body is alloowed to feel like it's later! Great!
It's been a social weekend of imbibing. On Friday afternoon after I proctored a makeup exam, a bunch of us went to Lux for Happy Hour. There I met Arnaud's wife, who discussed my costume with me and suggested that I should not just be Fidel Castro, but be sick Fidel Castro. We brainstormed about IV drips and so on, and agreed that some scrubs would be a far more suitable choice than a
hospital gown even if patients don't wear scrubs. She promised to hook me up, as she has many sets. (She's a 4th year med student.) Following Lux, ACA & I had agreed to watch Game 5 of the World Series at the Distillery. We had both watched previous games from our own homes while talking online, and felt that we should revert from the 21st to the 20th century, during which time, I'm told, humans communicated without the facilitation of Internet tubes and they gathered in establishments known as
sports barsto watch their countrymen compete in athletic events. Doug & Meghan joined us for dinner & the game. Of note is that despite our cheering for St Louis and ACA's dad working for
Anheuser-Busch, we drank Blue Light. Oh, yes, hooray, Cards. (I don't normally cheer for them, but ACA would slice me open with a spoon if I didn't.)
Saturday was spent costume shopping with Doug &
prudemermaid, then catching the 4th quarter of the ND/Navy game up in Irondequoit at
Shamrock Jack's with Riley, KK, Julie, and Julie's parents. Julie is Meg's friend from undergrad who's now KK's roommate in Syracuse. Get it? Good, good. Part of the costume shopping included an attempt to borrow scrubs from aforementioned Amanda, but in the end I borrowed a set from RCBI. We actually went up to Doug's house before Irondequoit to grab some stuff, and took Lake Road to get there. Lake Road in this case refers to its proximity to
Lake Ontario. We checked out gaudy architecture, nice views of the lake, and so on. It was a pleasant drive, which is something I don't really get to do much of anymore. In the evening, we all went on a haunted hayride with Meg's lab, then went to the party at 86. We got to the party late & stayed late, which is the sort of thing you can do when Daylight
Saving Time ends. I'm not sure it was the best-laid of my plans, or maybe the problem was the 24oz Blue Light I'd consumed on the way back from the hayride. Eep.
This brings us to Sunday, our fourth paragraph. I organized, with help from
jisalynn, a wine tour of Seneca Lake for interested parties. We ended up going to only 5 wineries, and we didn't get the super-pimp trolley bus, but our driver was chill, and I think everybody had a good time. Nobody got too rowdy, lots of people bought wines, and we even got educated a little bit on a tour at
Fox Run. For the curious, we went to: Belhurst, Fox Run, Lakewood, Castel Grisch. We'd planned on going to Glenora as well, but it ended up not fitting into our schedule. C'est la vie. Ah, and the whole point of this post was really to whore out my
flickr set of wine tour pictures.
Can I go to bed now?
