[Her tone is urgent and commanding while her face, now drained completely of color, is blurred on the screen as she moves around her hut, heading for the door.]

Guildford! Tell me your location now.

[It would seem that this sort of message is beginning to become a common occurrence ( Read more... )

[His comment about who she is causes a momentary hush that settles over her thoughts, and there is a slight sensation of warmth that rushes to her face. She is thankful for the darkness, the lack of light in this primitive hut, and her gaze moves to Guilford, who she notices has shifted in the bed.

If what the Shadow says is true, then he is safe as long as he remains asleep. Very well. She will carefully keep her temper in check, her voice low and quick movements at a minimum. At least until she understands what he's planning to do.

She remains where she is. There is enough space between them that she can easily draw her weapon if necessary. But she is not sure whether causing the Shadow pain will, in turn, do the same to Guilford.

Like a switch, she has turned her emotions off. As best as she can manage in a situation like this. Hearing and seeing someone so familiar say such callous things; it is not an ordeal that she finds easy to ignore.]

And what will you do with him when he wakes?

[She catches that look, but her ( ... )

I want to speak with him. I need to show him the path. I need him to see the truth. [ Reaching down with uncharacteristic tenderness, the Shadow brushes some stray hairs behind Guilford's ear.

But then he is standing tall once more, turning to face her. ] That doubt is you Cornelia.

[ A momentary pause, while he inches closer. ] Though do not fret. I do not blame you. But blame-- [ Another step, his hand reaching out. ] Changes little.

[Her? What is he...?

She blinks in the darkness, the lump in her chest expanding until it feels like it has fully closed off the air passage in her throat. She swallows. But it remains. And her eyes narrow at him, the only retort she can manage at the present time.

The house feels too warm. Too small. Too suffocating. And in the silence that descends the tiny room, she can hear every subtle creak and moan under the weight of their bodies. Even a rustle that penetrates the thin walls from the outside. She doesn't even realize that she has taken a step away from him as he moves closer. Her body has gone tense, her shoulders stiff, her fingers curling unconsciously as she continues to watch him, watch his hand... And then her back has reached the door.]

What do you... what does that mean? Me?

You do not like being left in the dark; that much is no secret. [ He stops now, eyes watching her every move. The Shadow is not bashful about this, either, and it's hard to be subtle when the golden orbs flicker to and fro across her figure.

He drops his hand. ] That you were gone for so long and left me to my own devices... I should feel honored that you thought I was strong enough to deal with the consequences of that course of action.

[ The hand was brought back up to his chest, fingers clutching at the front of his uniform. ] ...but that you thought I was the one who needed protecting?

[The manner in which he stares at her makes her uncomfortable. There is nothing timid or shy about his gaze, nor in his body language. He's still far enough away that she can defend herself, and yet she finds one hand moving behind her back, curling around the knob of the door. This thing is a product of the fae's imagination. If it is similar to the Shadow's from Souji Seta's world, then it is far too dangerous for even her to take on by herself. It is best not to be too rash, despite the words spoken to provoke her.

Cornelia holds the ire on her tongue, her dark gaze the only sign that she is affronted by his gall. She forces the tension away, driving the strength back into her legs so that she stands up taller, with more certainty.

She has no idea what she confessed to Guilford in their world during the period of time she has yet to experience, but she can only assume that she was honest with him about her reasons for leaving the empire. Even so, his tone and insinuation do little to calm her nerves.]I already told you to stop ( ... )
